What is the Giving Day?

The Giving Day is an annual 24-hour giving campaign that inspires friends and supporters to come together and provide essential funding to support current and future residents. This annual event shines a spotlight on Saint Francis Home and on giving and creates a sense of energy around philanthropy.


When is it?

Giving Day will take place for 24 hours, beginning at midnight on October 4, 2021.


What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Who can donate?

Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet.


Can I anyone participate in Giving Day?

Yes! Anyone can support Giving Day Saint Francis Home.


What forms of donations are accepted?

MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations. No donations via check, cash or stock will be accepted.


Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes. You will automatically receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift.


Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $5 minimum donation.


Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Where does my Giving Day gift go?

Funds raised through Giving Day Saint Francis Home support the daily care and needs of the residents, update and replace equipment, and maintain the aging buildings.


Is my payment secure?

Absolutely - The Giving Day is facilitated by GiveGab, a company who has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through GivingDay.SaintFrancisHome.org. Read through Stripe's security documentation online.


Can I send a gift by mail or phone?

Yes. However, due to the tight period of Giving Day, only gifts made online, by phone, or in response to Giving Day mailings count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone on October 4, please call (804) 237-5602.


Is my Giving Day contribution tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.


Does it cost anything to give through Giving Day? How much of my donation will Saint Francis Home receive?

There is a 4% processing fee and a 2.5% (+ $.30) bank fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express). You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift in order for Saint Francis Home to receive 100% of your intended donation amount.


What if I already made a gift to the Saint Francis Home this year?

Thank you for being part of the Saint Francis Home family! We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to make an additional gift of any size on October 4th! We also need your help to promote Giving Day to others. We have created sample email and social media posts to help you do this more easily, which are located in the Fundraiser Toolkit on the site.


Can I help promote Giving Day?

Please do! We encourage you to share the images and messages that are located in the Fundraiser Toolkit. Send an email to friends, post on your Facebook page, tweet, blog, yell, put signs on your lawn. It's all encouraged!


How will the donation be reported on my credit card?

Gifts made on the Giving Day will appear on donors' credit cards as Saint Francis Home.
